When I’m backpacking or out hiking I find I am happiest. Things seem right in some divine cosmic way. What’s truly important in life rises to the surface: food, water, shelter, not getting eaten by a bear…The other man-made “important” things fade away temporarily: car, bills, needing a haircut, your favorite reality show, impressing your boss, worrying about what others think of you, keeping up with the Joneses. It’s easy to say all those things don’t matter, but out on the trail – that’s where they truly don’t matter. They cant, there’s no place for them to.
My dogs are happiest too. They are so curious and adventurous. I love to watch them explore. They are truly in their element when we are out on the trail.
